17 x 11, pastel. I spent last weekend at a Pastel workshop with Greg Biolchini put on by the Southeastern Pastel Society. What an inspiration! Three days of painting without the interruption of soccer, football, grocery shopping or laundry. A great feeling! Greg's demonstrations focused on using a pastel/alcohol wash as an under painting. I have played around with this before, but it was beneficial to see someone else demonstrate it and explain their thought process while they were doing it. This was my first painting at the workshop. I actually ending up covering up most of the underpainting in this painting. This is from the wonderful trip our daughter and I took last summer to Lexington, Virginia while looking at Washington and Lee University. This is in the Shenandoah Valley.
